There’s a Chevrolet EV for Everyone!
Instead of some of the novel approaches being thrown at the walls by start-ups and newer automakers, Chevy approached the electric truck market with a simple idea – take the best-selling Silverado and make it electric! Thanks to the Ultium Platform, the Chevrolet Silverado EV will be hitting the roads in late 2023, and bringing performance that is hard to match.
The Silverado EV isn’t going to be just a pickup truck in name with a cute electric powertrain though. It will be doing everything a truck should be expected to do, like tow up to an expected 10,000 pounds. This comes thanks to a powertrain that Chevy expects to generate up to 754 horsepower and 785 lb.-ft of torque, while getting roughly 400 miles of range on a full charge. Of course, it’s still important to have fun – which is why the upcoming Silverado EV is projected to go from zero to 60 miles per hour in only 4.5 seconds. The Silverado also offer e-4WD and Four-Wheel Steer, for an incredibly maneuverable vehicle.
The Chevrolet Blazer EV
The revitalization of the venerable Blazer nameplate continues with the Blazer EV, hitting the markets in summer of 2023! This isn’t going to be a boring electrified SUV though – the upcoming Blazer is designed with a bold style on top of the capable and efficient electric drivetrain. From the curving, sporty sheet metal outside, to the spacious and modern interior centered around the available class-leading 17.7-inch touch screen, the new Blazer EV is a refreshing new package.
With that same Ultium platform underneath, the Blazer EV featured similar abilities to the Silverado, toned down for the smaller platform. This includes a maximum range of up to 320 miles on a full charge, along with available eAWD and optional Super Cruise semi-autonomous drive mode. Like existing Chevy EVs, the Blazer will also feature Regen on Demand and One Pedal Driving for maximizing range potential!
A step down in size from the Blazer, the Chevrolet Equinox offers the flexibility, in a smaller package. For the 2024 model year – available at the same time as the Blazer EV – the Equinox EV debuts with a similar electronic power train! With a slightly smaller battery to fit into the smaller footprint, the Equinox still gets an estimated range of 300 miles out of a full charge, and like the Blazer, is available as front-wheel drive or with eAWD.
Smaller and sleeker doesn’t mean you get less though. The Equinox EV comes with standard Chevy Safety Assist, as well as standard Reverse Automatic Braking. Powertrains aren’t the only things that are being modernized in the electric revolution – safety and assistance features are becoming more and more advanced as we continue to move towards semi-autonomous driving on select roadways across the US and Canada.
The 2023 Chevrolet Bolt EV
While the previous three vehicles are still in preorder, the Chevrolet Bolt EV is ready to roll off the lot today! In production since 2017, it hasn’t hogged headlines but it has quietly developed into one of the most affordable, effective electric vehicles on the market. Providing up to 259 miles on a full charge, while being able to jet up to 60 miles per hour in only 6.5 seconds, it’s a great compact car for tight urban driving. With a dual-level charging cord, it’s flexible and powerful – no need for a separate home charger, and the Level 2 charging allows the Bolt to fully charge in only seven hours.
As a hatchback, the Bolt EV offers some excellent flexibility as well. With seats down, the Bolt can hold up to 57 cubic feet. This puts it on par with many subcompacts, but with a much lower load floor – great for moving in and out of city dorms!
Built on the same platform as the Bolt EV, the Chevrolet Bolt EUV is simply a slightly larger, more flexible version classed as a subcompact crossover. The overall size causes a small hit to the range – dropping it down to 247 miles all-electric – however it comes with a much larger interior, and more passenger space. The Bolt EUV also brings light, responsive steering and handling to the table, demonstrating that EVs can be enjoyable on top of useful. With a small footprint, it’s easy to maneuver through parking garages and tight city streets. On top of all this, the EUV features the optional Super Cruise semi-autonomous drive mode.
